Double crochet is two single crochets stacked on top of each other, but it’s worked as one stitch. To do this, have three loops on your hook. You pull through the first two loops, and you have two loops left. Then you pull through the last two loops. Easy!

Here is how to make a double crochet.

  • Start with a slip knot and put it on your crochet hook.

  • Insert the hook into the fourth chain from your hook. (don’t count the loop on your hook)
  • *Yarn over and pull up a loop.
  • Yarn over pull through 2.
  • Yarn over pull through 2 (again)
  • Insert hook into the next chain.
