  1. I have the boye ergonomic set but I think a couple are missing or mislabeled or something because I have a 4.25 mm and a 3.75 mm but I don’t have a four. They’re not have a 5.25 mm and a 5.75 mm but I don’t have a five or a six then I have a 6.5 mmso I think they are either mislabeled or I am missing three out of the set I bought because I don’t find that correctly on the conversion chart. If you could tell me the correct conversions I would greatly appreciate it.

    • Hi Charity. Can you please send me a link of the set you purchased. I have seen other crocheters comment that the sizing of some sets are not labelled correctly. Cheers Jodie.

    • Hi Lisa. Thanks for you message. I will work on that. I’d recommend getting a needle/hook gauge and then you can be sure that you know which size hook you are using. Cheers Jodie

    • Hi Carla. I’d highly recommend getting a needle/hook gauge to double check the size of your hook or use a measuring tape and measure the diameter. Line up the edge of the hook with beginning of the long bar of the metric sizing. So start off at the 2cm mark. Then count how many smaller bars there are (they are each a mm) to the other edge of your hook. This won’t be exact but it will be very close to what the diameter of your hook is in mm. Cheers Jodie

I have a Boye crochet hook that is labeled J/10-5.75 mm but I don’t see it on any of the charts that are posted here. Does that mean that this hook is missed labeled?

    • Hi Kathleen. I’ve done some research and I’ve found a listing that identifies the Boye Hook as J/5.75mm. I’ve read that hooks can be mislabeled. The best way to check the size of your hook is to use a crochet hook/knitting needle gauge. If there is a little room left when you place it in the 6mm hole, then you would assume it is 5.75mm. If it fits perfectly then it is 6mm. Hope that helps.

    Thank you so much,

  4. Hi Jodie! I have a boye plastic crochet hook that is light grey/blue and is labeled S 19-19.00mm. I picked it up on a clearance sale at Walmart nearly 10 years ago.

  5. I have green ergonomic D hook that came in a set I bought at Walmart that is labeled 3.125mm. This has really thrown me off. I am glad to read that they can frequently be miss labeled. So I am then assuming it meant 3.25mm.

  6. Hello, I have been a Boye user for more than 40 years and the H-5 mm was my standby. However my collection has a gold, 9.0mm labeled N. I have moved into larger bulky yarn and am trying to get custom hooks with Boye heads so I’m trying to find out the larger sizing. Any help would be appreciated.

    • Hi Sugar. Thanks for getting in touch. Do you have a preferred larger bulky yarn? Often on the label of the yarn it will say what hook size to use with that yarn. On the Craft Yarn Council chart the range of hook sizes for bulky yarn is 6.5mm to 9.0mm. Super bulky 9.0mm – 15.0mm. If you are getting custom hooks with Boye Heads hopefully they could make you say a 10.0mm, 10.5mm. Hope this helps. Cheers Jodie
